4-DAY TOUR
HA GIANG – CAO BANG – BAN GIOC WATERFALL

CLEARED ITINERARY:

Day 1: Ha Giang City – Quan Ba – Yen Minh – Dong Van

At 8:00 AM, you will meet our tour guide and the easy rider team from Ha Giang Peak Riders at our hostel. After breakfast, the tour guide will brief you on the schedule and itinerary for the tour. The easy riders will assist you in securing your luggage on the bike. If you have large luggage, you can store essential items for the 3-day trip in a backpack and leave the rest at our hostel.

The tour will depart around 9:00 AM. After approximately 30 minutes of riding, the first major stop will be Bac Sum Pass, located 800m above sea level. From here, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the winding road you just traveled, surrounded by mountains, terraced fields, and local houses perched on the steep slopes.

Next, we’ll cross Bac Sum Pass and head to Quan Ba Heaven Gate, situated at an altitude of 1,500m. Here, you can breathe in the fresh mountain air and take in the stunning, expansive views of the mountains, rice fields, and flower valleys in season.

Our journey continues to Quan Ba Twin Mountains, where you’ll admire the breathtaking view of Tam Son town. Following this, we will visit Lung Tam Village, home to the Hmong ethnic minority, where you can learn about their traditional hemp clothing that has been passed down through generations.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Lao Va Chai – Yen Minh, offering beautiful views of the terraced rice fields. After lunch, we’ll continue our journey up the famous zigzag road of Tham Ma Slope.

The final stop for the day will be the Hmong King’s Palace, also known as Vuong Mansion, a historic site that tells the story of the Hmong people in the region. The day will conclude with a drive to your homestay in Dong Van. You can enjoy a local dinner and, if you wish, explore Dong Van Old Town in the evening.

Day 2: Dong Van – Meo Vac – Bao Lac

After breakfast at 8:00 AM and some preparation, the second day of the tour will begin at 9:00 AM. The team will take you to continue the journey towards Ma Pi Leng Pass, the highlight of the day. This 20-kilometer-long pass, part of the famous Happiness Road, connects Ha Giang City, Dong Van, and Meo Vac. Along this route, there are several viewpoints where travelers can stop to rest and take in the view. From the top of Ma Pi Leng, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the Nho Que River, with its striking blue waters, the deep Tu San Canyon, majestic limestone mountains, and steep cliffs. 12:00 PM, arrive in the quiet mountain town of Meo Vac and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. This is a great time to try some traditional H’mong or Tay cuisine and explore the town briefly.

1:30 PM – Continue to Bao Lac via Khau Pha Pass
In the afternoon, ride towards Bao Lac. The road takes you through Khau Pha Pass, one of the less touristy but equally spectacular passes. If conditions allow, the group can stop for a short hike to a high viewpoint, giving you a breathtaking overview of the famous "15-stage road"—a winding serpent-like road cutting through mountain slopes.

This is a more off-the-beaten-track region, where fewer tourists venture. The scenery is raw, remote, and peaceful.

5:00 – 5:30 PM – Arrive in Bao Lac Town
Reach Bao Lac Town and check in at your hostel or guesthouse. The rest of the evening is free for you to relax. You can explore the small town, enjoy a warm shower, and gather for dinner at 7 PM with the team to share stories from the day's ride.

Day 3: Bao Lac – Cao Bac Valley – Tra Linh – Khuoi Ky Village

8:00 AM – Breakfast and check-out
Begin your day with breakfast in Bao Lac Town. After packing up and saying goodbye to the peaceful little town, your journey toward the mystical lands of Cao Bang begins.

9:00 AM – Ride through Cao Bac Valley
As you leave Bao Lac, the road takes you into Cao Bac Valley, a serene and expansive area flanked by towering limestone mountains and lush cornfields. This tranquil region feels like a world away from the busier parts of Ha Giang.

  • Here, you’ll have time to stop for photos and admire the harmony between highland agriculture and the stunning karst landscape.
  • The quiet, fresh air and peaceful rhythm of village life make this stretch a calming highlight.

11:00 AM – Na Tenh Pass
Next, the road winds upward again through Na Tenh Pass, a lesser-known gem. Unlike the dramatic cliffs of Ma Pi Leng, Na Tenh is a gentle, winding pass lined with forests and small ethnic villages.

  • As you ride through, you’ll see children walking to school, farmers working in terraced fields, and water buffalo relaxing near the streams.
  • Optional short breaks for photos or interaction with local villagers.

12:30 PM – Lunch in Tra Linh Town
Stop in Tra Linh Town, a quiet gateway to one of northern Vietnam’s most unique natural wonders. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant, where you’ll get to taste Cao Bang’s regional dishes.

2:00 PM – Visit God’s Eye Mountain (Núi Thủng or Núi Mắt Thần)
After lunch, take a short ride to the iconic God’s Eye Mountain, also known as Angel Eye Mountain by locals.

  • This distinctive hollow mountain rises dramatically from the plains, creating a giant circular "eye" through its limestone body.
  • During rainy season, the plains below often flood, turning the area into a surreal lake dotted with reflections of the surrounding peaks.
  • You'll have time for a short walk or simply relax while taking in this rare geological formation.

3:30 PM – Continue to Khuoi Ky Village
In the late afternoon, continue your ride toward Khuoi Ky, a beautiful Tay ethnic minority village nestled by a river and surrounded by mountains.

  • The village is known for its traditional stone stilt houses and peaceful ambiance.
  • You’ll arrive at your homestay around 5:00 – 5:30 PM. After check-in and a hot shower, you’ll have time to relax before dinner.
  • Enjoy a home-cooked meal with your local hosts, and maybe even a glass of corn wine to warm up the evening.

Day 4: Khuoi Ky Village – Nguom Ngao Cave – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Cao Bang City – Hanoi

8:00 AM – Breakfast and check-out
Wake up to the peaceful sounds of Khuoi Ky Village. After enjoying a traditional breakfast prepared by your Tay ethnic host family, it’s time to pack up and say goodbye to this charming village of stone houses.

9:00 AM – Visit Nguom Ngao Cave
Your first destination of the day is Nguom Ngao Cave, just a short ride from the village.

  • The cave stretches over 2 kilometers, and is one of the most stunning in all of Northern Vietnam.
  • Inside, you’ll walk through a world of shimmering stalactites and stalagmites formed over millions of years.
  • Cool temperatures and dramatic lighting make this a refreshing and awe-inspiring experience.

10:00 AM – Explore Ban Gioc Waterfall
Next, you’ll continue a short distance to Ban Gioc Waterfall, the crown jewel of Cao Bang.

  • As one of the largest and most beautiful waterfalls in Southeast Asia, Ban Gioc sits right on the border between Vietnam and China.
  • You’ll have time to walk along the riverbank, take photos from various viewpoints, or even take a short bamboo raft ride to get closer to the falls (optional).
  • The thunder of the falling water, the mist in the air, and the green surroundings make this a perfect grand finale for your adventure.

11:30 AM – Transfer to Cao Bang City & Lunch
After visiting Ban Gioc, your driver will take you back to Cao Bang City, arriving around 12:15 PM.

  • Enjoy a quick but delicious farewell lunch with the group — we recommend trying the local specialty: phở bát đá (hot stone bowl pho). The broth stays hot throughout the meal, giving the noodles a unique flavor and texture.

12:30 PM – Bus back to Hanoi
After lunch, a comfortable sleeper bus will pick you up in Cao Bang City and begin the journey back to Hanoi. Sit back, relax, and reflect on the incredible landscapes, cultural experiences, and memories made over the past 4 days.
